Commercial Manager, History Extra, (up to £44,000 annual salary)
Part time - 4 days a week, 8 month fixed term contract

About the role
A creative and forward-thinking Commercial Manager, you will support the MD in tracking and driving day-to-day performance and maintaining momentum of key projects. A core focus of the role is progressing our digital subscription strategy, turning agreed priorities into delivered outcomes and ensuring accountability across teams.
Whilst this role operates at the intersection of editorial, marketing, product and data, it is a commercial role responsible for ensuring commercial priorities are translated into action, delivered at pace and with a measurable impact. This includes the delivery of partnerships and collaborations in support of audience/subscriptions acquisition and ensuring content, marketing and product initiatives are aligned to maximise results.
This is a varied and high-impact position. You will be comfortable operating in ambiguity, demonstrate initiative and proactivity in spotting and acting on opportunities to improve performance and commercial outcomes alongside the interpersonal skills to influence and align activity across teams.
As a Commercial Manager, you will;
Commercial Performance Management
- Monitor day-to-day performance and highlight risks and opportunities to MD
- Provide clear weekly performance updates as required
Delivery of Digital Subscription Growth Strategy
· Translate agreed strategic priorities into a clear, sequenced subscription roadmap
- Maintain momentum on growth initiatives from concept to execution
- Remove blockers and escalate risks early
- Ensure subscription priorities are embedded in planning cycles
- Ensure cross-functional alignment behind subscription objectives
- Work closely with the content teams to ensure editorial plans support subscription objectives
- Align campaign timing, commercial messaging and product positioning
- Provide commercial insight to inform content and membership strategy
Audience Growth & Partnerships
- Secure and coordinate acquisition-focused partnerships and collaborations
- Support planning and delivery of events and other audience engagement initiatives
- Ensure audience development opportunities are integrated into planning early
Requirements
- Proven experience in subscriptions or membership driven businesses and good understanding of how to deliver these propositions.
- Digitally fluent - understands product, technology and platform considerations and how they affect delivery.
- Comfortable working with dashboards and confident using data to interpret performance and inform decisions.
- Experience working across editorial, product, marketing or growth teams and experience in publishing and media brands.
- Ability to influence and drive action in a matrix organisation.
- Proactive, adaptable, highly organised and delivery-focused.
- Strong commercial awareness and analytical mindset, comfortable with P&L and revenue management/forecasting.
This role will require travel to our London office
